Sir Philip Green was spotted on his newly-bought superyacht Lionheart in Malta, along with his wife Tina Green and the yacht's fleet of workers.

The pair were seen boarding the enormous vessel - the couple's third yacht - yesterday, before standing on its huge deck in Malta before it set sail from port.

The yacht, named Lionheart, is four storeys high and the length of a football pitch. It is said to boast a hot tub, swimming pool, helipad, three lifts, a beauty salon, a barbecue and a fleet of jet-skis. It can sleep 12 guests and 28 crew.

The Greens already have two superyachts, the 109ft Lionchase and the 200ft Lioness V, on which they often entertain A-list guests such as Kate Moss. Sir Philip is also understood to have recently taken delivery of a new private jet costing around £46million.

The trip comes as Sir Philip faces calls to be stripped of his knighthood and was forced to appear in front of MPs to explain his part in the BHS crisis.

The acquisition of the boat, which took four years to build to Lady Green’s specifications, is likely to anger BHS workers, who risk losing their jobs and pensions and may wonder why retail billionaire Sir Philip did not put the money into the struggling company.

The high street chain, which had run up huge losses in recent years, went into administration in April – a year after Sir Philip sold it for just £1 – putting 11,000 jobs at risk. Its pension scheme, which has 20,000 members, has a £571million black hole.

Administrators said the first 20 BHS stores would close on Saturday, July 23. Around 580 staff will be affected although the administrators say they will try to find temporary work for them in other BHS branches nearby.

Sir Philip, nicknamed Sir Shifty, bought the chain in 2000 and paid £400million in dividends to his wife, who lives in tax-free Monaco and is the nominal owner of almost all of her husband’s businesses.

He sold BHS in March last year for £1 to three-times bankrupt former racing driver Dominic Chappell. Last month it was reported Mr Chappell tried to use company expenses to fly his family to the Bahamas for a holiday.
