More than 2,200 high school seniors from about 50 high schools across the state attended the third annual South Carolina College and Career Decision Day rally on Tuesday.

The rally took place at the South Carolina State House beginning at 10 am.

It began with a parade down Main Street and led to a celebration on the State House steps.

The event, mirrored after National Signing Day, is facilitated by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education.

It recognizes and applauds students who are taking the lead in their futures by committing to college or university enrollment, beginning a vocational or training program, joining the military, or entering the workforce.

Representatives from more than 30 colleges and universities, and representatives from the business community, state government, and local celebrities attended supporting students.
