American-Moroccan rapper French Montana and Egyptian rapper Mohamed Ramadan were in Mumbai recently. The duo explored the city, its culture, especially the food. For Montana, it is the flavourful kadak chai he enjoyed starting his days with followed by binging on to food made using “different spices”. Ramadan on the other hand enjoyed eating biryani and the fruits in India he said were better than any other countries in terms of the variety.
The duo was here to promote their latest track Rolla Rolla which mark their first collaboration together along with singer Jasmine Sandlas. Talking about mixing Indian and Middle Eastern musical styles, the duo said, “Music unites us all!” About the song, Ramadan shared, “What distinguishes this song from others, in my opinion, is the blend of Indian, American African, and Arabic music. It’s a fantastic combination. India is the gateway to the Asian continent, and I want my music to reach Asia so I hope to earn the admiration and love of the Indian audience.”
On his maiden trip to the country, he added, “Yes, it’s my first visit, but definitely not the last. What I liked the most about India is its kind, humble, and friendly people.” Ramadan also hopes that one day Egyptian films will be screened in India. “I’m sure the audience will love them,” he said.
Montana also talks about the experience he had celebrating the holy month of Ramazan in Mumbai, “It’s the holy month of Ramadan and I appreciate that my team didn’t let me work hard and reserve my energy. We kept the holy spirit high by breaking the fast together.”
Montana hopes that he gets to work in a Bollywood film soon and he signs off talking about his next song saying, “I have one coming out with Guru Randhawa. I just can’t wait for it.”
