Meanwhile, the Djibouti national football team, led by Djiboutian coach Mohamed Meraneh Hassan, ranked 191st in the FIFA rankings, is the worst team in Group A of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with only one draw and four defeats, placing them last in the group.

Riverains de la Mer Rouge will have to go into this match looking for a victory, which they have not achieved since October 27, 2024 when they beat Rwanda by the narrowest of margins in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, their only win of the year.

The Ethiopian national football team led by Ethiopian coach Gebremedhin Haile, ranked 146th in the FIFA rankings, have had a very poor performance in these 2026 World Cup qualifiers, being one of the two teams in group A that have not managed to win along with Djibouti.
