Montana Tech Mining Team brings home awards from competition in England

The Montana Tech Mining Team brought home several trophies from the 47th International Collegiate Mining Competition held at the University of Exeter’s Camborne School of Mines and the King Edward Mine Museum in England over the weekend.

The university took five teams to competition, consisting of 15 men and 15 women. The Orphan Girls Team took home second place overall out of 10 teams. All teams finished in the top 3 in at least one event.

Women’s Division:

Orphan Girls Team

1st place in Jackleg Drilling, Track Stand, and Hand Steel

2nd Overall and in Surveying

3rd in Mucking

Butte Bells Team

3rd in Hand Steel

4th in Track Stand

Coed Division:

Picked Last Co-Ed Team

1st in Hand Steel

4th in Gold Panning

Men’s Division:

The Originals Team

1st in Hand Steel

2nd in Track Stand

2nd in Surveying

Barnard Boys Team

2nd in Jackleg Drilling
