Owner Rachel Bushey said it’s all she can do to keep products on the shelves, with customers lining up as she opened the doors at 6 a.m. It’s more than just a bakery, with offerings including breakfast sandwiches, Italians, chili, lasagna, burgers, quiche, salads and even homemade cretons. In fact, Bushy said homemade is the key to her new bakery.

The doughnuts have been particularly popular. Bushey says she gets them from Downeast Foods in Auburn and bakes them off and finishes them with toppings and assorted flavors.

“I do everything from scratch,” she said Monday afternoon after another crazy, busy day. “I’m hiring more people than I ever thought I’d have to,” she added.

It’s strictly takeout, at least for now, although she said people in Greene are clamoring for her to add a seating area, but she said that’s something that wasn’t in her plans.

Bushey hopes to have a Facebook page up and running soon, complete with a menu, but in the meantime people can call the Greene Village Bakery at 207-946-6083 for more information.
