Due to Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the Trump Administration's efforts to minimize the federal government, numerous Social Security Administration offices throughout the U.S. are expected to close this year.

These Social Security offices are closing despite a new requirement within the administration for tighter identity-proofing measures that would prevent fraud and abuse.

This new initiative requires that millions of recipients and applicants visit Social Security offices in-person, rather than interact with agency employees over the phone.

Louisiana Social Security office expected to close this year

A total of 47 Social Security offices are listed for closure on DOGE's list of terminated federal real estate leases. Although, on the list, only 26 of those offices had anticipated dates for when lease cancellations would take effect, the Associated Press reported.

Only one Social Security office in Louisiana was included on DOGE's list of terminated real estate leases.

The Social Security office located at 178 Civic Center Dr. in Houma, Louisiana is expected to close on April 25 of this year.
