Variety reports that producer Marc Platt flew to New York to personally urge Zegler to delete the tweet, but the 23-year-old actress stood firm, letting the message remain online. The tweet has since amassed over 10 million views.

This support marks a shift from previous criticisms Zegler faced. Upon her casting as Snow White, some conservative groups reacted negatively due to her Latina heritage, arguing that the role should remain true to its European origins.
Additionally, Zegler's comments about the original 1937 film sparked debate. At Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022, she remarked, “The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with the guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird.” These statements led to accusations of her being dismissive of the classic tale and its characters.
