Rachel Zegler is receiving a wave of public support after reports confirmed she refused to delete a tweet in support of Palestine, despite facing pressure from Disney executives. The post, published in August 2024, coincided with the release of the Snow White trailer and ended with the statement: “and always remember, free Palestine.”

The tweet reportedly sparked internal backlash at Disney, leading to high-level interventions. Variety reports that producer Marc Platt flew to New York to personally urge Zegler to delete the tweet, but the 23-year-old actress stood firm, letting the message remain online. The tweet has since amassed over 10 million views.

Public reaction to Zegler’s decision has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many applauding her courage. One user wrote, “Rachel Zegler had one of the most powerful producers in Hollywood fly out specifically to ask her to delete a tweet in support of Palestine and she refused. More backbone and integrity at 23 than 99% of powerful people in this country.”

Another said, “LOL at that Rachel Zegler hit piece backfiring and showing she is incredibly principled and authentic. It’s in fact the industry that needs to change.”

This support marks a shift from previous criticisms Zegler faced. Upon her casting as Snow White, some conservative groups reacted negatively due to her Latina heritage, arguing that the role should remain true to its European origins.

Additionally, Zegler's comments about the original 1937 film sparked debate. At Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022, she remarked, “The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with the guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird.” These statements led to accusations of her being dismissive of the classic tale and its characters.

While Snow White has faced box office challenges and broader controversies, Zegler’s principled stance has redefined her public image, transforming criticism into commendation.
