Zoom Program on Middle East Scheduled

The Greater Washington Coalition for Jewish Life invites the public to attend a lecture, “Gender, Religion and Politics in the Middle East” by noted scholar Lihi Ben Shitrit at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 6 via Zoom.

WASHINGTON – The Greater Washington Coalition for Jewish Life invites the public to attend a lecture, “Gender, Religion and Politics in the Middle East” by noted scholar Lihi Ben Shitrit at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 6 via Zoom.

Prof. Ben Shitrit, currently the director of the Taub Center for Israel Studies at NYU, is the author most recently of “The Gates of Gaza: Critical Voices from Israel on October 7 and the War with Hamas.” In addition, she has written “Righteous Transgressions: Women’s Activism on the Israeli and Palestinian Religious Right” and numerous articles on the intersection of gender, religion and politics in the Middle East.

Harvard Law School, the Kennedy School Middle East Initiative and University of Pennsylvania have supported her work with several fellowships. Prof. Ben Shitrit holds graduate degrees, including a Ph.D., from Yale University.
