THAN WHEN YOU’RE ACTUALLY STANDING OUT THERE GOING, WHAT AM I LOOKING AT, EXACTLY? HEY, IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ASTRONOMICAL THIS WEEKEND, I’VE GOT SOMETHING GOING ON. I’VE GOT A PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE. YOU SEE THE SUN, THE MOON AND THE EARTH WILL LINE UP. AND BECAUSE OF THAT, THE MOON IS ACTUALLY GOING TO BLOCK OUT THE SUN FOR A WHILE NOW, THIS IS NOT, I WANT TO REPEAT, NOT AS SPECTACULAR AS WE SAW LAST YEAR WHEN WE HAD THAT TOTAL ECLIPSE GOING ON. IN FACT, THIS ONE ACTUALLY IS LOOKING KIND OF LIKE A DUD BECAUSE WHAT HAPPENS IS WE’RE ONLY GOING TO SEE A PARTIAL ECLIPSE AND IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN RIGHT AT SUNRISE, WHICH IS AT 631 ON SATURDAY MORNING, AND IT ONLY LASTS TILL ABOUT 707, SO YOU DON’T GET MUCH OF A CHANCE TO LOOK AT IT. IF YOU ARE GOING TO LOOK AT IT, REMEMBER, IT’S A SOLAR ECLIPSE. YOU NEED TO HAVE THOSE SPECIAL GLASSES. BUT I DON’T THINK MANY ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT IT BECAUSE THE CLOUDS AND SHOWERS ARE LIKELY GOING TO OBSCURE YOUR VIEW. THAT’S RIGHT. WE’VE GOT RAIN COMING IN FOR THE MORNING. SO HERE’S THE WAY THE MAP LOOKS ON SATURDAY MORNING. SO YOU WAKE UP AND INSTEAD OF LOOKING AT A PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, YOU’RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT A LOT OF CLOUDS. YOU’RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT SOME RAIN. ALL BECAUSE OF THIS STALLED COLD FRONT THAT’S GOING TO BE SITTING OUT THERE. SO IT LOOKS LIKE THIS ONE. WE’RE PROBABLY GOING TO MISS OUT ON. IT WAS ONLY A PARTIAL ONE ANYWAY, SO IT WASN’T LIKE WE MISSED OUT ON A TOTALITY. NOW SPEAKING OF THE WEEKEND, I THINK MOST OF THE RAIN IS ON SATURDAY MORNING, BUT EVEN AFTER THAT, WITH THIS STALLED FRONT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, IT LOOKS LIKE WE’RE GOING TO KEEP A CHANCE OF SHOWERS GOING FOR SUNDAY AND MONDAY. IT WILL BE TUESDAY BEFORE WE ACTUALLY CLEAR THE SKIES OUT, GET SOME SUNSHINE BACK IN THERE, A FEW BREAKS IN THE CLOUD COVER OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, BUT NOT A LOT. AND WE DIDN’T SEE MUCH OF IT TODAY. A RATHER COOL DAY AT 44 DEGREES, THE AIR RELATIVELY DRY BREEZE RIGHT OFF THE WATER. WHICH IS WHY IT’S COOL RIGHT NOW IN THE CITY OF BOSTON. AND YOU CAN SEE THE CLOUDS THAT ARE KIND OF CIRCULATING AROUND. AND EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE YOU SEE A FEW HOLES IN THE CLOUD COVER, BUT YOU ALSO SEE A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS, VERY LIGHT STUFF. MOST OF THIS IS REALLY LIGHT OUT TOWARDS SPRINGFIELD, OUT TO THE BERKSHIRES, A LITTLE ELEVATION. WE’RE ACTUALLY PICKING UP A LITTLE BIT OF WET SNOWFLAKES, AND THEN YOU’LL SEE THAT DOWN TOWARDS BUZZARDS BAY. WE’RE PICKING UP A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS AS WELL, STRETCHING DOWN TOWARDS NEWPORT. AGAIN, REALLY LIGHT STUFF. THIS WILL BE WITH US TILL ABOUT TEN, 11:00 TONIGHT AND THEN IT WILL CLEAR AWAY. SO WE’LL SEE. CLEARING OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. THAT WILL MEAN TEMPERATURES WILL DROP OFF 28 TO 34 DEGREES. AND THEN FOR TOMORROW, COOL SUNSHINE IN THE MORNING. TEMPERATURES AROUND 32. WE GET TO SEE SUNSHINE TOMORROW. ENJOY IT. AND TEMPERATURE RIGHT AROUND 50 DEGREES. A LITTLE BREEZY, BUT NOTHING TERRIBLE. SO REALLY KIND OF NICE. SPRING DAY COMING OUR WAY TOMORROW. WE’LL ENJOY TOMORROW AND WE’LL ENJOY IT ON FRIDAY BECAUSE AS I POINTED OUT, SATURDAY IS LOOKING WET, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST HALF OF SATURDAY. SO HERE’S WHAT THE MAP LOOKS LIKE TONIGHT. THIS WILL ALL BE MOVING OUT OF HERE AFTER MIDNIGHT. THERE’S YOUR CLEAR SKIES COMING IN LATE TOMORROW NIGHT. I MEAN, AFTER MIDNIGHT THERE MAY BE A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS THAT ARE COMING THROUGH. THIS IS FRIDAY MORNING AT 3:00 IN THE MORNING, AND THEN IT CLEARS OUT OF HERE AND WE GO BACK TO SOME SUNSHINE. AND THEN LATE IN THE DAY, THE CLOUD COVER COMES IN. ONCE THE CLOUDS ARE IN HERE ON FRIDAY NIGHT, THEY’RE WITH US FOR A FEW DAYS. HERE’S THE WAY IT LOOKS. THEN OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS, SUNSHINE TOMORROW, FRIDAY. NOT BAD. THERE’LL BE A FEW PRE SUNRISE SHOWERS OUT THERE AND THEN WE’LL CLEAR THE SKIES AWAY. AND THEN THE CLOUDS MOVE IN ON FRIDAY NIGHT. AND THEY’RE HERE TO STAY SATURDAY SUNDAY AND MONDAY. BEST CHANCES FOR RAIN OVER THE WEEKEND RIGHT NOW LOOK LIKE SATURDAY MORNING. KIND OF SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS SATURDAY AFTERNOON SUNDAY I THINK THE BEST CHANCE FOR SHOWERS IS GOING TO BE LATE INTO THE DAY. MORE TOWARDS AFTERNOON AND EVENING AND THEN MONDAY THERE’S A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AS WELL. SO IT’S NOT THREE DAYS OF RAIN. IT IS THREE DAYS OF CLOUD COVER, BUT THERE WILL BE SOME

Partial solar eclipse for New England this weekend: Weather dependent
A partial solar eclipse will occur Saturday, but most people in North America won't be able to see it unless they are in the northeastern U.S. or eastern Canada.Across New England, the partial eclipse will have already started by sunrise, meaning the sun will come up partially obscured by the moon.Sunrise in Boston is at 6:31 a.m. Saturday. At most, the sun will be nearly 43% obscured shortly after sunrise at 6:38 a.m. The partial eclipse will end at 7:08 a.m.Like all celestial events, the ability to see this eclipse is entirely dependent on the weather. StormTeam 5's forecast for Saturday morning does not appear favorable to see the eclipse due to cloud cover."A front will be draped right over southern New England on Saturday morning, and clouds will likely prevent us from being able to see the partial solar eclipse," StormTeam 5 meteorologist Kelly Ann Cicalese said. The eclipse will be viewable (dependent on the weather) as far west as central New York and Pennsylvania and as far south as the Delmarva Peninsula. The greatest obscuration will occur over northeastern Quebec, the northern portion of Newfoundland and Labrador and eastern Nunavut.A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the sun, causing a shadow to be cast on Earth.Viewing the solar eclipse requires the special eclipse viewers that you may have leftover from the total solar eclipse in April of last year.
