BUCKHANNON, WV (LOOTPRESS) โ A routine traffic stop near Go-Mart in Buckhannon on March 24 resulted in the arrest of two Morgantown residents on drug and firearm charges, according to the Upshur County Sheriffโs Office.
Cpl. Tyler Gordon conducted the stop for a traffic violation and, upon detecting the odor of marijuana, initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle.
The search uncovered a Ruger .40 caliber handgun, three digital scales, a psilocybin mushroom chocolate bar, and approximately three grams of marijuana hidden inside a compartment within the vehicleโs console.
Authorities also found packaging materials commonly used for drug distribution.
Both individuals in the vehicle were prohibited from possessing firearms under state and federal law.
Celeste M. Cruz, 27, was arrested and charged with prohibited possession of a concealed firearm, possession of methamphetamine, an open container violation, having no insurance, and a window tint violation.
James M. Dash Jr., 40, was also arrested and charged with prohibited possession of a concealed firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
Both Cruz and Dash were transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
