As of Thursday morning, Slovakia reopened small border crossings with Hungary. Traffic restrictions have ended. Vehicle disinfection equipment was placed at the border crossing points in the night (26-27 March).
That night, all small border crossings between Slovakia and Hungary were closed due to foot-and-mouth disease, which has been confirmed in another outbreak in Hungary. Decontamination gates were installed at major border crossings such as Rajka, Medveďov, Komárno and Štúrovo. Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok informed that Slovakia is purchasing additional decontamination gates to ensure that there will be enough of them.
