Iowa National Guard planning send off ceremonies for soldiers ahead of upcoming deployment

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Several groups of soldiers in Siouxland for the Iowa National Guard are preparing for a deployment overseas starting in the spring.

The 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 34th Infantry Division of the Iowa Army National Guard says deployment ceremonies will take place in the unit’s communities between May 28 and May 30, 2025.

Several units from across Siouxland are part of a mission in what the National Guard calls “Central Command” in support of “Operation Inherent Resolve.”

The following units are from:

  • Sioux City: Company D of the 334th Brigade Support Battalion
  • Le Mars: Troop C of the 1-113 Cavalry Regiment
  • Storm Lake: Company F of the 334th Brigade Support Battalion

Other communities with units include Waterloo, Council Bluffs, Davenport, and Cedar Rapids.

More than 1,800 soldiers are a part of this deployment.

There are town halls planned across the state of Iowa to provide additional information and support and resources to employers, families, and community members. The brigade will be holding town hall events across the state.

Upcoming informational town halls in Siouxland are taking place at two locations.

  • Location: Sioux City Armory, 3200 Remington Avenue, Sioux City.
    • Time: April 4 at 9 a.m.
  • Location: Le Mars Armory, 1050 Lincoln St NE, Le Mars.
    • Time: April 4 at noon

These are open to the public.

This deployment is all part of the Guard’s five-year training cycle.
