IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa Hawkeyes senior Payton Sandfort was invited to the State Farm College Dunk and 3-Point Championships in San Antonio, becoming the seventh Hawkeye to participate in the event.

It set for 6 p.m. on April 3rd at the Frost Bank Center, home of the San Antonio Spurs.

The event brings together 24 of college basketball’s best men’s and women’s athletes to compete for bragging rights.

Sandfort ranks 11th in program history at Iowa with 1,619 career points. He has made 271 total 3-point shots, which puts him at second-all-time. He also holds the best free throw percentage (.896) in program history.

Sandfort joins six previous Hawkeyes to participate in the event:

  • Dean Oliver (2001)
  • Luke Recker (2002)
  • Jeff Horner (2006)
  • Adam Haluska (2007)
  • Peter Jok (2017)
  • Jordan Bohannon (2022)

Jok won the event in 2017, and Bohannon won the event in 2022.
