A Luxembourger suffered a broken foot following a panic wave during Friday's powerful earthquake in Myanmar, while he was staying in Bangkok, Thailand. He contacted RTL to shed light on his situation.
The man, traveling with two other Luxembourg citizens, was caught in a wave of panic in Bangkok shortly after the earthquake's effects were felt. As a result, he sustained a foot fracture.
The group had been due to fly back to Luxembourg on Friday evening and had already reached Bangkok Airport. However, staff denied the injured man permission to board due to his condition.
Following this, he returned to hospital for further examination, including X-rays, to assess the extent of the injury. His two companions in turn also opted to remain in Thailand to accompany him to the hospital.
Speaking to RTL, the Luxembourger said he is awaiting further medical information, with a specialist expected to determine by 11am on Saturday (local time) whether he is fit to travel or if surgery will be necessary. As of now, their return to Luxembourg remains uncertain.
