Strong to severe storms will be possible in the Piedmont Triad area and much of the Carolinas Monday afternoon/evening.

High pressure near Bermuda will extend across the region through Sunday. A cold front will approach the region on Monday and move across the area Monday night. Cool high pressure will return to the area on Tuesday and modify during the week.

With the Cold front approaching later in the day and with daytime heating, there is a higher than normal chance for storms to be strong or severe.

The main threats will be an isolated damaging wind gust over 58mph, but isolated large damaging hail and an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.

Typically our severe weather season, we see a 2-5% chance for a tornado within a 25mile radius, however, the Storm Prediction Center has placed a large area in NC under a 10% chance for an isolated tornado.

Timing will be mid to later afternoon into the evening. Noon-6pm.

Stay weather aware on Monday and make sure you have several ways to receive watches and warnings. Charge up cell phones and have your severe weather plan in place.
