Four charges of child molesting filed against man arrested by LPD

Logansport Police Department arrested a man earlier this month who is facing four felony charges related to child molesting.

Four child molesting charges were filed March 19 against Miguel Miguel Lopez, a 45-year-old who was born in Guatemala.

He’s facing a level 1 felony charge of child molesting where the defendant is at least 21 years of age; a level 1 felony charge of attempt to commit child molesting where the defendant is at least 21 years of age; and two level 4 felony charges of child molesting — fondling or touching with child under 14.

There are two alleged victims according to court documents. Both are younger than 14.

According to court documents, Miguel Lopez molested the first victim and fondled their genitals between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2022.

Then, according to court documents, he fondled the second victim’s breasts and attempted to molest them March 12.

The court documents show Miguel Lopez has received a no contact order.

Senior Judge John Potter filled in as Cass County Circuit Court judge for Miguel Lopez’s initial hearing on March 20. He set the final pretrial conference for 1 p.m. July 17 and jury trial for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 22.
