Missouri Task Force 1 has been activated to respond to forecasted flooding in southeast Missouri, according to a news release from the Boone County Fire Protection District.

The task force deployed at 2 p.m. Thursday to assist local authorities in flood-related emergency response operations Friday morning in Poplar Bluff. The team will be responding with over 100,000 pounds of gear, including 11 convoy vehicles and boats.

The Disaster Situation Awareness and Reconnaissance team, which is a specialized unit within the task force, will also be deployed. This team does wide-area search and rescues and disaster mapping. The team will be providing information to the Incident Management Teams, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Operations Center.

There are 48 members in the deployment and two canine units.
