On 2 April 2025, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Mr. Toyly Atayev, accredited concurrently in the Republic of Moldova, met with the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova Mr. Sergiu Harea and the Vice-President of the Chamber Mr. Mihai Bylba in the building of the CCI of Moldova, the Embassy of Turkmenistan to Ukraine reports.
During the meeting, which took place as part of the working visit of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Chisinau, the Parties discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between the countries. Particular attention was paid to the issue of activating bilateral partnership in promising niches and between business communities.
It was noted that the level of trade turnover between the countries has demonstrated some instability in recent years. In the structure of mutual trade, the main items of Turkmen exports are mineral fuels, oils, distillation and processing products, fertilizers, plastic products, textile materials. Moldova, in turn, supplies Turkmenistan mainly with pharmaceutical, food, chemical products and printed products.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed interest in intensifying cooperation with the Turkmen side, but transport and logistics issues still remain an obstacle to the growth of trade turnover.
In this context, the Ambassador Atayev noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development and diversification of transport and logistics. As a result of the implementation of the transport and communications strategy, Turkmenistan is systematically strengthening its position as an important transport and logistics center of regional and international scale, acquiring the status of a major international logistics hub using the logistics capabilities of the seaport of Turkmenbashi.
A positive effect in trade relations between European and Asian countries is expected from the implementation of the international transit and transport route “Caspian Sea – Black Sea”, in which Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania are participants, the Ambassador said.
Mr. Atayev renewed the invitation for the Moldovan side to take part in the upcoming major specialized events in Turkmenistan and abroad, in particular, in the exhibition of Turkmen carpets dated to the Turkmen Carpet Day, which will be held on 25 May 2025 in Ashgabat.
The meeting was attended by the director of the company producing ecological plant protection products “Mezhtrans Moldova” Mihail Mocanu, who is actively establishing cooperation with partners in Turkmenistan and participating in investment forums.
The participants of the meeting expressed their readiness to deepen Turkmen-Moldovan business cooperation by continuing multilateral communication – an important investment in the progress of bilateral trade. ///nCa, 4 April 2025
