Disney's largest cruise ship arrives in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico today received the first visit of the Disney Treasure, one of Disney Cruise Line's new ships for 2025. The inclusion of the port of San Juan in its route during the first half of the year will inject more than $318,000 into the local economy.

Puerto Rico Tourism Company Executive Director Willianette Robles Cancel explained that the Disney Treasure joins the Magic and Fantasy ships, bringing the direct economic impact of the cruise line's presence in Puerto Rico to a total of approximately $2.6 million during fiscal year 2025.

"Fulfilling the commitment of Governor Jenniffer González Colón, our goal is to continue working firmly in the development of Puerto Rico so that it continues to stand out as a tourist destination of excellence in the Caribbean, with world-class offerings, and to reach new milestones and record numbers of passenger visits that will result in sustained growth of our economy," commented Robles Cancel.

The executive director added that, "the cruise market is one of great importance both for partners in the tourism industry, as well as for companies near the docks such as restaurants, retail stores, artisans, among others. The expansion of Disney Cruise Line's operations will help us increase tourism activity on the island's docks, promote the destination as a family and inclusive destination, and encourage the diversification of the offer of tourist services."

As part of the welcome to the Disney Treasure, a delegation from the Government of Puerto Rico and representatives of the tourism industry was received aboard the ship by Captain Marco Nogara to carry out the traditional exchange of plaques commemorating the inaugural visit of a new vessel. The delegation included officials from the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Puerto Rico Ports Authority, Continental Shipping and San Juan Cruise Ports.

For her part, the general manager of San Juan Cruise Port pointed out that, "We are honored to receive the Disney Treasure on its maiden voyage to San Juan, a clear sign of the attractiveness and capacity of our port. From San Juan Cruise Port, we continue to work hard with strategic investments and management based on proven experience, to guarantee an exceptional experience for each passenger. This visit also represents another step in the fulfillment of the commitments established in our public-private partnership, with a view to strengthening Puerto Rico's role as a leading port in the Caribbean."

The newly inaugurated vessel is the largest of the Disney company's ships to visit the island and has capacity for a maximum of 4,000 passengers and 1,500 crew members. San Juan is the second port that Disney Treasure visits, after departing from Port Canaveral in Orlando Florida on its 7-day itinerary through the eastern Caribbean.

Among its facilities and experiences based on iconic characters of the organization such as Beauty and the Beast, the Marvel Universe, Moana, Coco and Finding Nemo are restaurants, Broadway-type shows, family play areas, swimming pools, movie theaters with classic Disney movies, as well as activities designed exclusively for adult passengers.
