Amad hints at imminent return as Man United seek Europa League glory
News Images

Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo has hinted at an imminent return for the Red Devils.

The Ivory Coast international has been absent since the start of February due to an ankle injury, and it appeared at the time that the forward would be missing for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

However, Amad has made excellent progress in his recovery of late, with Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim recently revealing that he is well on course to return before the season concludes.

The 22-year-old has now posted a video on his social media account, with a return to the field seemingly imminent.

Amad seemingly on verge of Man United return

Amad has been a standout performer for the Red Devils during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring nine times and registering eight assists in 36 appearances in all competitions, including six goals and seven assists in 22 Premier League matches.

The forward's form led to him being handed a new contract at the start of this year, with his deal now running until June 2030, and he is viewed as a vital part of Amorim's plans at Man United moving forward.

It is still believed to be unlikely that Amad will be back on the field before the end of April, so he is set to miss the team's next five matches, but a return at the start of May against Brentford is viewed as a possibility.

No risks will be taken when it comes to the Premier League, as Man United do not have much to play for in the latter stages of their domestic campaign, but he could have a major role when it comes to the Europa League.

Indeed, should the Red Devils manage to navigate their way past Lyon in the quarter-finals of the competition, then the two semi-finals will take place at the start of next month against either Athletic Bilbao or Rangers, with the final then scheduled for May 21.

Which other Man United players are currently injured?

Lisandro Martinez, Ayden Heaven, Toby Collyer, Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans are all currently sidelined, with all five missing from the squad that is in France for the Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon.

However, Kobbie Mainoo returned to training on Wednesday after overcoming a muscular problem, and the midfielder has been named on the bench against Lyon, while fit-again Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are also among the substitutes for the European contest.

Martinez is out for the remainder of the campaign, but Heaven, Collyer and De Ligt are all expected back soon.

Evans' issue is unclear, but the experienced centre-back is out of contract at the end of June, and he is widely expected to retire from professional football in order to become a coach at Old Trafford.

Tottenham learn asking price for 'excellent' 16-G/A target on Liverpool & Man United radar

Tottenham are looking to improve their attacking unit with the signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth at the end of the season. The 25-year-old has done quite well for the Cherries in the Premier League and his performances have attracted the attention of Liverpool and Manchester United as well. The attacker has been labelled as an “excellent player”. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay a premium for him. According to a report from Give Me Sport, the Cherries will not sell the player for a knock down price and they will hold out for £70 million. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. There is no doubt that the Ghana international is a quality player, and he has proven himself in the Premier League. He is capable of operating anywhere across the front three, and he will add goals and creativity to the side. Semenyo is certainly good enough to play for a bigger club, and the opportunity to join Tottenham, Liverpool or Manchester United will be quite exciting for him. They could provide him with the platform to compete in European football in the coming seasons and fight for trophies. Tottenham have amicable terms with Bournemouth, and they have recently signed Dominic Solanke from the Cherries. It remains to be seen whether they can negotiate a reasonable deal for the 25-year-old now. Tottenham need someone like Antoine Semenyo Semenyo has 10 goals and six assists to his name in all competitions, and he could improve further when he is playing in a better team. He could be the ideal replacement for Timo Werner, who will leave upon the expiry of his loan deal. Richarlison has been linked with an exit as well. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat the competition and secure his signature. Meanwhile, Liverpool need an upgrade on players like Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez. The Reds need a dynamic forward capable of operating anywhere across the front three. The 25-year-old seems like the ideal fit for them. Similarly, Manchester United will need to replace Antony and Jadon Sancho if they are sold permanently in the summer. Semenyo could prove to be a superb alternative.

'He Kept Getting Worse': Scottie Barnes Off-Mic Banter From Raptors Media Caught On Tape

The Toronto Raptors closed out their 2024–25 NBA campaign with a 30-52 record, falling short of the Play-In tournament. While the team’s struggles have been a collective effort, much of the post-season noise has centered around rising star Scottie Barnes—and not in the way you’d expect. After the team’s end-of-season press conference, a hot mic incident caught two unnamed reporters making harsh, off-the-record remarks about Barnes and rookie Jonathan Mogbo. The comments, which quickly made the rounds online, included criticisms of Barnes’ attitude and speaking abilities. “It’s not just his enunciation, which, like, was super bad, especially last year,” one reporter was heard saying. “But even the attitude. Just the attitude—like he’s having fun up there. First year or even before, he just kept getting worse and worse every year.” Things took an even more distasteful turn when the pair shifted their focus to Mogbo. “When I first interviewed Mogbo when he was drafted, I was shocked ’cause he was so dumb,” the other reporter said. Before further damage could be done, another media member reportedly stepped in to inform the two that their remarks were being picked up by a live mic—though by then, the damage was done. More to come from Scottie Barnes for the Raptors Despite the off-court controversy, Scottie Barnes remains focused on the future. In his press conference, he spoke optimistically about the Raptors’ outlook. “If you saw my face last year at this time, I don’t think I was looking the right way,” Barnes said. “But I’m excited for what the future holds and what we’re going to grow into. With the team we have, there are no excuses. We should definitely be in the playoffs.” Scottie Barnes wrapped up the season averaging 19.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game—solid numbers for a third-year player still developing his game and leadership. Looking ahead, his potential partnership with a veteran scorer like Brandon Ingram and continued chemistry with Jakob Poeltl could push Toronto closer to playoff contention. The Eastern Conference remains competitive but far from out of reach. If the Raptors can rally behind Scottie Barnes and their promising young core, a return to postseason basketball isn’t just a dream—it’s an expectation.

Dodgers Manager Not Happy With Freddie Freeman After Tuesday's Game

The Los Angeles Dodger won their second game in a row Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies, but manager Dave Roberts wasn't happy with what Freddie Freeman did in the fourth inning of the contest. Freeman was caught trying to steal second in an effort that was not only unsuccessful, but was not approved by the skipper. “I didn’t like that,” Roberts said. The score was 5-0 heading into the fourth inning when the Rockies scored two in the top half of the frame. With two outs and Freeman on first, the World Series MVP attempted to steal second to get into scoring position but was thrown out. “He’s competitive and thought he had a chance to steal a base, give us a four-run lead. But I just think right now we’ve got to make sure we manage his workload and health," Roberts said. "I just want to make sure we try to keep him as healthy as possible, so I don’t think we’ll be seeing him steal many bases in the near future.” This isn't the first time that there has been discussion from Roberts about his willingness to let Freeman steal bases. Last Friday, during Freeman's return after a few missed games, as well as his stadium-wide bobblehead giveaway night, Roberts spoke on if the veteran had the green light to steal bases. “No,” Roberts said. “It’s just red as red can be. Fire engine red.” With the competitive fire that Freeman possess night in and night out, it is difficult to turn off a certain aspect of one's game in order to preserve health. However, given the kind of impact that he has on the team, Roberts is only speaking from a place of caution. Freeman only stole nine bases last season while dealing with his fair share of ailments, but the season prior saw a career-high 23 swipes. His legs are an extremely important part of his game, but is also the point of concern from his manager. Without Freeman in the lineup, there is no telling if the Dodgers still win the World Series in 2024, and especially in an early-season game — and after tweaking his surgically-repaired ankle this month — Roberts doesn't appear to be making his comments from a critical place. He just knows the Dodgers need Freeman on the field as much as possible — and that means being a little more conservative on the bases. For more Dodgers news, head over to Dodgers on SI.

Dream home-run Commanders trade option just fell into Adam Peters' lap

The Washington Commanders have been active in the trade market this offseason. Adam Peters is aggressive and left no stone unturned in pursuit of proving last season's heroics weren't just a flash in the pan. If he feels like another could help this up-and-coming franchise, the front-office leader won't hesitate despite limited capital right now. One notable development should have the Commanders' attention. According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero from the NFL Network, the Miami Dolphins are looking to part ways with All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The respected insiders revealed that both parties are working on a potential transaction, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him land elsewhere in the coming days or weeks. Commanders should inquire about potential Jalen Ramsey trade compensation This is a stunning development. The Dolphins might have struggled of late, but Ramsey remains one of the league's best corners. His coverage capabilities are elite, and the player's ability against the run is something else that could help the Commanders enormously in this scenario. Miami has already paid Ramsey his $4 million roster bonus. This means that any team willing to come forward will take on around $21.1 million on his contract next season. It might be a step too far for Washington, but it wouldn't hurt to place a call to find out one way or another. More Commanders news and analysis
