With due respect to Gina Bax, she must have been at a different protest than I was at Children’s Park last Saturday?

She said the scene was filled with shouting, anger and tension, in a park for children. I felt only joy, empathy and satisfaction seeing so many Chicoans standing up for everyone’s rights.

You are right, there were a few crude signs, but mostly they were clever and right on. My favorites were “GOP stop hurting people” or “USA – Trump’s latest bankruptcy.”

People gathered peacefully for less than two hours, enough time for children to enjoy the park.

Reading the E-R (Tuesday) — Trump has ended funding to the U.N. World Food Program. Families and children in Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and certainly Gaza will starve.  Countries we have bombed and warred with.

Nothing is family-friendly about this cruel regime, and it has to be protested, no matter how uncomfortable. Give us this Day our Daily Bread.
