Zach Muscat is relishing the opportunity for the national team to put up two strong performances as they face Luxembourg, on Thursday at the National Stadium (kick-off: 6pm) and Finland, next Monday in Turkey.

"These are two important tests, starting from Thursday, as they will help us to integrate more as a team," Muscat said.

"Moreover, it will be another opportunity for the coaching staff to implement their system and having reviewed our previous game with Estonia, I think we are now already assembling some of his ideas."

Speaking about Tom Saintfiet, whose first game in charge finished in a 3-0 defeat to Estonia, the 24-year-old underlined the idea of camaraderie which the Belgian coach wants to see in the team.

"Saintfiet is focusing a lot on the relationship as a group and may be due to this background culture," the Arezzo player highlighted.

Undoubtedly, one of Muscat's best features is his versatility which enables him to play any role at the back, in any tactical system.

In his latest game with Arezzo against Viterbese, he started in a three-man backline while on Saintfiet's debut he started as fullback.

"My experience in Italy has helped me a lot in developing my technical and tactical features and eventually, that helps me to fit into any role from which my team can benefit obviously."

Arezzo experience

Meanwhile, the former Birkirkara defender's current club, Arezzo, are embroiled in two battles, one more important than the other.

While they are involved in a fierce relegation battle, the club has been declared bankrupt and unless a new owner takes the reigns of the club prior next season, they may vanish from the Italian football map.

At the moment, two bankruptcy trustees, Lucio Francario and Vincenzo Ioffredi, are taking care of the payments of the club with various entrepreneurs are investing their money in the club in attempt to salvage its identity.

"It was difficult situation for us from the beginning, but I feel that if we manage to overcome this difficult moment, we can manage to reach our objective and that would mean a lot for us," Muscat affirmed.

In the meantime, on the field, they are fourth from bottom with 28 points, a spot which would see them the bottom side in the Serie C - Girone A in a two-legged relegation play-out.

Due to their financial problems, Arezzo are still to recover some of the games which were cancelled, however, with the club likely to have further more points deducted (between 8 and 10 points according to Italian reports), after having three earlier this season, their salvation battle may become an uphill task at that point.
